Rep started his career at NK Mons Claudius from Rogatec and then transferred to NK Celje youth sides where he signed his first professional contract. For a short period of time he also played for NK MU Šentjur on loan. During his time in NK Celje he was named team captain at the age of 19 and was the youngest captain in history of the club.[2]
In late August 2010 he signed a four year contract with Slovenian giants NK Maribor.[1][3] Since August 2011 he is a member of 1. SNL team ND Mura 05, on loan until the end of the 2011–12 Slovenian PrvaLiga season.[4]
He has made eight appearances for Slovenia U–19 where he scored six goals. He was instrumental in leading his side through qualifications for 2009 UEFA U–19 Championship where he scored five out of six Slovenia goals in the final phase of qualifications including a hattrick against Russia U–19.[5] He also scored a goal against Netherlands U–19[6] and Belarus U–19.[7] He was the best goalscorer in whole 2009 UEFA U–19 Championship during this phase of the qualifications campaign. On the final tournament Rep failed to score a goal and Slovenia finished the tournament with one point on last (eight) place.
Currently Rep is a member of Slovenia U–21 squad.
Rep was born in Rogatec and started to play football at a local club when he was six years old.[8] He is a declared NK Maribor supporter as he started to support the team during 1999 when the violets were playing in the group stages of the elite UEFA Champions League.[9][10] During his time as captain in NK Celje he was criticized by local fans for publicly stating on Facebook that he is a fan of NK Maribor and even for wearing purple/yellow football shoes during matches, which are the traditional colours of NK Maribor.
